Well if you think sitting quietly on the side of a lake with a camera wouldn’t bother anyone think again.  My presence was not appreciated by this little plover and his mate, who proceeded to run up and down the beach loudly protesting my intrusion.  Gutsy little sod, I’ve got 6’ and 100kg on him but he was still willing to have a go.

Day of the Pelican

I promised Russel Ray ( http://russelrayphotos2.com/ )that I would do a post of the Australian Pelicans.  The other afternoon I went to watch the sunset from a jetty I had heard of on Coogee Beach and as luck would have it I was able to kill two birds with one camera as the pelicans were there in force. So Russel this is for you – this is what ‘properly’ coloured pelicans look like.

What are you goin’ to do, it’s getting towards sunset, you don’t want to drive for miles but you feel the need to take the camera out for a spin.  I go through the options and keep coming up with Point Peron, it’s a proven performer.

We were showing friends around Perth recently and I snapped a portion of the skyline.  The original was pretty ordinary and I was going to delete it but instead decided to have a play.  The actual process has been lost in time but involved several textures, some over the top saturation adjustments and a little bit of this and a little bit of that until I ended up with this image.

Different worlds. On the cooler days (20C) I look at the kite surfers near where I live and think how cold they must be but it would be nothing compared to these guys in Finland. And I bet the snow hurts more when the jump goes wrong:)

Finally ice in the sea is supporting. Kite skiers are happy to race back and forth along the shore.
